Description

Thick cotton yarn is worked in mitered garter-stitch squares that build one upon the other in Katy Ryan’s colorful rug. The yarn is doubled for a gauge of just over three stitches per inch, making this a surprisingly quick way to add a little color and comfort to a room.

Finished Size About 18″ (45.5 cm) wide and 30″ (76 cm) long.
Yarn Lion Brand Kitchen Cotton (100% cotton; 236 yd [215 m]/5 oz [142 g]): #123 seaspray (aqua), 2 balls; #112 poppy (red), #135 cinnamon (light brown), #158 banana (yellow), #186 maze (gold), #106 pastel (blue), and #181 sage (dark green), 1 ball each.
Needles Size 10 ½ (6.5 mm): straight. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Tapestry needle.
Gauge 13 sts and 26 rows= 4″ (10 cm) in garter stitch with yarn doubled.
The Basic Square measures 6″ (15 cm) square.
