The title of the video is misleading. The title should be something to the effect of “Designing and Making a Southwestern-style Necklace.” Most of the video is spent discussing the steps in creating a necklace using Southwestern motifs. Very little time is actually spent teaching how to make hollow forms. Not much of the time spent soldering the hollow forms is tight, up-close video. I found myself really wanting to see a close-up of adding the solder when making the hollow bead but that bit of video was shot from far away. Part of the soldering portion was shot from above while other parts were too far away; it was inconsistent.
I was really wanting to learn additional techniques in soldering hollow form beads of various shapes. Unfortunately and despite the title, this video did not provide that.
***At the end of the video, Ms. Erickson reviews what was taught: Making a metal dome to use as a “cabochon”, bezel setting, creating overlay finishes (sweat soldering), creating textures, making chain, dapping, and creating a tiny Native American-style pot. If you would like to learn about those things, this is the video for you.
