Difficulty: Intermediate

Finished Size: 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 50.5)" bust circumference. Vest shown measures 36"; modeled with 2.5" of positive ease.

Specific Yarn Used: Plymouth Yarn Superwash Merino DK (100% superwash fine merino wool; 130 yd [119 m]/3.75 oz [50 g]): #1000 white (MC), 5 (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) skeins and #1112 red (CC), 1 skein.

Needles: Size 5 (3.75 mm): straight and 16" circular (cir). Size 6 (4 mm): straight. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Markers (m); stitch holders; tapestry needle.

Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows = 4" in St st on larger needle.

Notes: This vest is worked back and forth in separate pieces and seamed. The chart is worked using both the intarsia and stranded methods. Join a new strand of yarn for each section of color and twist yarns at each color change to avoid holes. Always pick up the background color over the pattern color and pick up the pattern color from under the background color; this will prevent tangling. Keep floats loose.
