Description

Three options in three sizes let you tailor this versatile topper for anyone on your list, incorporating the brim and earflaps as you wish. The contrasting color evokes the sheepskin trapper hats, while the lovely kettle-dyed wool prevents the hat from evoking Elmer Fudd. A clever increasing method, working a half-double and front-post double into the same stitch, gives subtle shaping to this classic hat.

Finished Size Adult (teen, child) 8½ (8, 7½)” from top of crown to bottom edge and 23 (20½, 18)” circumference.

Yarn Manos del Uruguay Clásica (100% wool; 138 yd [126 m]/3½ oz [100 g]; ): #706 (green), 1 skein for adult hat; #704 (red), 2 skeins for teen hat; #708 (blue), 1 skein for child hat (MC); and #703 (gray; CC), 1 skein for all 3 hats. Yarn distributed by Fairmount Fibers.

Hook Size K/10½ (6.5 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
