Work back and forth in separate pieces to create this knitted pullover pattern.

Description

Colorwork bands at hem, cuffs, and collar set off this classic winter white pullover. This sweater, a feminine companion to the Sherwood Forest Pullover from Love of Knitting Fall 2017, offers a slimmer fit and wider neckband. It’s named for the shallow body of water between Denmark and southern Sweden, notoriously difficult to navigate even today. Medieval sea captains called this sea “Cat Gate” because even a cat would have trouble getting through the hazardous waters.

Designer: Melissa Leapman

Needles: Sizes 4 (3.5 mm) and 5 (3.75 mm): straight and 16″ circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Gauge: 25 sts and 32 rows = 4″ in St st on larger needles.

Notes:

  • This pullover is worked back and forth in separate pieces and seamed.
  • The Border chart is worked both in rounds and back and forth in rows. When working in rounds, work every chart row as a rightside row.
  • The chart is worked using the stranded method. Always pick up the background color over the pattern color and pick up the pattern color from under the background color; this will prevent tangling.
