Knitting Classes:

Pick-Up Artist with Marie Greene:

In this best-selling workshop, you’ll learn Marie’s renegade approach to sweater finishing for results that will knock your socks off! You’ll learn:

  • Why a great finish starts with the cast-on
  • How to adjust a neckline to get the fit you want
  • A better way to pick up stitches for beautiful results
  • Secrets to a professional neckline and button band
  • Common pitfalls in sweater finishing (and how to avoid/fix them)

Specific Technique(s) Taught:

  • Knitting

Skill Level: Intermediate

Prerequisites: Ideally, students in this class will have some familiarity with sweater knitting and may have knit one or more sweaters.

Materials you’ll need:

  • Worsted-weight yarn in a medium to light color to knit homework swatch (no slubs, no thick-and-thin yarn – choose something evenly-spun in a solid color)
  • Worsted-weight yarn in a contrasting color, but not super dark (same specifications as above) – this second color will be used in class
  • US Size 7/4.5mm circular needles (24 in/60 cm) – sharp tips are helpful
  • US Size 5/3.75mm circular needles (24 in/60 cm or DPNs) – sharp tips are helpful
  • Size E crochet hook (pointier/contoured tip is helpful)

Strand-Less Colorwork with Marie Greene:

If you’ve always wanted to love colorwork but don’t enjoy carrying multiple strands, strand-less colorwork is for you! Re-imagine your approach to colorwork with this unique method that solves tension issues and eliminates hassles with floats. With a little practice, you’ll be cruising through colorwork (flat or round!) with beautiful tension. You’ll also learn how to adapt colorwork patterns to use this technique.

Specific Technique(s) Taught:

  • Knitting

Skill Level: Intermediate

Prerequisites: Students should know how to knit and purl, join additional yarns/colors, and ideally students in this class will have some familiarity with colorwork.

Materials you’ll need:

  • 2 partial skeins of fingering- or sport-weight wool (or wool blend) in contrasting colors for swatch practice in class (leftovers and small amounts will be fine)
  • US Size 3/3.25mm (12-16 in/30-40 cm) circular needles (sharp tips are helpful!)
  • US Size 2/2.75mm (12-16 in/30-40 cm) circular needles
  • Pen/pencil
  • Scratch paper
  • *I recommend two colors with a lot of contrast, such as one light neutral and one medium or dark “pop” color in a solid or semi-solid/tonal. Superwash Merino, sock yarns or regular (non-superwash) wool blends are ideal. Bring yarn you would be comfortable using for a colorwork hat (not cotton, linen, silk or bamboo). Please do not bring variegated or busy speckled yarns as they will make it more difficult to learn the technique. Don’t worry, you can branch out into those colors once you’ve mastered it.

Ticket Types:

  • Single Room: $2,750 per person; Enjoy your own room with luxury accommodations.
  • Double Room: $2,250 per person; Share a room with one of your favorite knitting friends and enjoy luxury accommodations.
*Please note: When registering for a double, please make sure you have a roommate who is also registering. If not, we will do our best to match you with someone. If we are unable to match you, then we will need to upgrade you to a single room and you will be responsible for paying the difference in rate.
  • Companion: $1,500 per person; Want to bring a non-knitting guest or spouse? All companions can participate in all non-knitting activities and meals.
