Icelandic Star Knitting Pattern Download

Description

A bright, deep red is actually the darkest color, and the one with the most impact, in the Icelandic Star cardigan. An almost-as-dark central band gains contrasting punch from an edging of very bright blue bands and a subtler in-between green. Embroidered stars, added during finishing, allow three colors to exist in the same row. A classic yoke construction keeps the knitting easy.

Finished Size: 32¼ (36½ , 40¼ , 44½ , 48¼ , 52½ )” bust circumference, buttoned, including 1″ front bands. Cardigan shown measures 36½ “, modeled with about 2” positive ease.
Yarn: Reynolds Lite-Lopi (100% wool; 109 yd [100 m]/50 g): #1409 red (MC), 5 (6, 7, 8, 9, 9) balls; #0426 gold heather, #1404 turquoise, and #0058 grey, 1 (1, 2, 2, 2, 2) ball(s) each. Yarn distributed by JCA.
Yarn Weight: #4 – Medium
Needles: Body and sleeves size 8 (5 mm): 29″ circular (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn). Ribbing size 6 (4 mm): 24″ cir and set of dpn. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Markers (m); stitch holders; tapestry needle; six ¾ ” buttons.
Gauge: 17 sts and 24 rows = 4″ in St st on larger needle.
