The Tao of cables – the RIVER cardi/vest is made up of simple cabled strips, pieced together to create a garment that’s not much harder to knit than a scarf. With deep apron pockets, ribbed accents and a self-tie, this style is nautical and Zen-like all at once.

Yarn: Loop-d-Loop by Teva Durham River (90% cotton, 10% cashmere; 103 yd [95m]/50g): #05 azure, 8 (9, 10, 11) balls.
Yarn weight: #4 – Medium
Gauge: 18 sts and 24 rows = 4″ (10 cm) in St st on #8 needles.
Needles: Size 8 (5mm) straight and Size 7 (4.5 mm): circulars, 16″/40cm and 24″/60cm long. Adjust needle sizes if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
