Here, I shaped the mesh “canvas” to duplicate the shape created when the crocheted ribbons are not only woven but also crossed over each other like a knitted cable.

Description

Several years ago, I designed a large plaid floor pillow with a mesh background and knitted I-cord “ribbons” woven through it, as a special gift. The Heidi scarf is a continuation of that technique of “woven” crochet. Here, I shaped the mesh “canvas” to duplicate the shape created when the crocheted ribbons are not only woven but also crossed over each other like a knitted cable. By alternating the crossing of colors, the finished scarf appears cabled.

Finished Size: 8″ wide x 43″ long (20.5 cm x 109 cm).

Yarn: Rowan, Kid Silk Haze (70% super kid mohair, 30% silk; 230 yd [210 m]/1 oz [25 g]): #630 fondant (A); #580 grace (B); #600 dewberry (C), 1 ball each.

Yarn weight: #3 Light

Hook: G/6 (4mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Notions:

Gauge: 6 mesh boxes and 9 rows = 4″ (10 cm).
