An updated take on a traditional counterpane blanket, the Generational Throw incorporates elements found in the designer’s own yard: Bobbled butterflies pop off the fabric and whimsical flowers blossom from the corners. This blanket consists of 24 motifs that are worked separately then joined.

Specific Yarn Used: Sugar Bush Yarns Bold (100% extra fine superwash Merino wool; 190 yd [174 m]/ 3 ½ oz [100 g]): #3017 Silver Islet, 9 balls.

Needles:Size 6 (4 mm): 24″ or longer circular (cir). Size 10 (6 mm): straight. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Removable markers (m); 2 cable needles (cn); size J/10 (6 mm) crochet hook; cotton balls (for blocking embossed leaves); tapestry needle.

Gauge: 17 sts and 30 rows = 4″ in St st on smaller needle.
