This particular edging appealed to me because it reminded me of a Japanese geisha fan.

Description

I chose an ultra-simple stitch pattern for this wrap to showcase the wonderful texture of the yarn, rather than the texture of the stitches. The majority of the shawl is simply chains! The simple, linear construction of the stitch pattern also made it a perfect candidate for tiers of edging, joined as you go. This particular edging appealed to me because it reminded me of a Japanese geisha fan. This edging also worked well because the distance between the two row repeats matched perfectly for joining to the shawl at every fourth row.
