The restaurant at Maison Fournaise along the river Seine in West Paris, France, was the location for painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s iconic “Luncheon of the Boating Party” (1881). The Fournaise Tee features a mesh lace panel that covers the entire back and wraps around the lower body to meet the narrower front panel. The sides close with shell buttons that beautifully catch the impressionist light of every day.

Finished Size: 33 1/2 (37 3/4, 41, 45 1/4, 50, 53, 57 1/4, 61 1/2)” circumference at underarm. Tee shown measures 37 3/4″; modeled with 1 1/2″ of positive ease.

Yarn: The Fibre Co. Luma (50% Merino wool, 25% cotton, 15% linen, 10% silk; 137 yd [125 m]/1 3/4 oz [50 g]): Blue Dusk, 6 (7, 8, 9, 10, 10, 11, 12) skeins.

Needles: Sizes 4 (3.5 mm) and 6 (4 mm): 24″ circular (cir). Size 4 (3.5 mm): 16″ cir.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Marker (m); stitch holder; ten 5/8″ shell buttons; tapestry needle.

Gauge: 21 sts and 30 rows = 4″ in St st on larger needle; 20 sts and 28 rows = 4″ in Mesh Lace patt on larger needle.
