Description

Use tarnish-resistant Argentium sterling silver to fabricate this ring topped off with a metal focal.

Skills: Beginner/Intermediate metalsmithing

Materials Needed to Complete this Project:

  • 14 gauge square Argentium® silver wire
  • Medium Argentium® silver solder 
  • Argentium® Pro Casting Grain (Optional if a cast component is included like shown in article. Casting directions not included.) 
  • Flux (I use Handy Flux Paste for soldering and annealing, but liquid flux like My-T-Flux is also acceptable) 
  • Pickle

Tools Needed to Complete this Project:

  • Ring mandrel
  • Rawhide mallet
  • Torch
  • Flex shaft
  • Wire cutters
  • Flat file
  • Soft grip parallel pliers
  • 3M radial bristle brushes (red 220, blue 400)
  • AdvantEdge silicone polisher wheels (white coarse, black medium) 
  • Chasing hammer
  • Argentium® silver hallmark stamp
  • Stamping block
  • Kiln or oven
  • Ultrasonic cleaner
  • Rio Rapid Cleaner (for ultrasonic cleaner)
