The beautiful combination of rich autumn hues in this patterned yoke is the result of many experiments with different yarns, gauges, and colors. Michele Rose Orne designed a classic round-yoke pullover with updated styling. She omitted the traditional ribbed hem, cropped the body, and opened the neckline for a more current silhouette. The patterns on the yoke are echoed on the slim sleeves – all the way to the elbow. A soft alpaca yarn gives the sweater a slightly fuzzy halo and helps blend the stitches that form the color-work sections.

Yarn weight: #4 – Medium
Gauge: 22 sts and 28 rows = 4″ in solid-color St st on smaller needles; 26 sts and 26 rows = 4″ in St st color-work patt from charts on larger needles.
Needles: Body and sleeves—Sizes 4 (3.5 mm) and 6 (4 mm): straight. Yoke—Size 6 (4 mm): 20″ and 32″ circulars (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
