Enjoy these socks that are designed for maximum longevity with hardwearing yarn worked densely and reinforced in key places. Use the Old Norwegian cast-on that strengthens the top edge, while the twisted ribbing at the cuff holds with its stretch better over time. The broken ribbing keeps its shape longer than standard ribbing. Finally, both the heel flap and the underside of the heel turn are reinforced.

Finished Size: 6&frac12 (7, 7&frac12, 8, 8&frac12, 9)” (16.5 [18, 19, 20.5, 21.5, 23] cm) foot circumference and 8 (8&frac12, 9, 9&frac34, 10&frac14, 10&frac34)” (20.5 [21.5, 23, 25, 26, 27.5] cm) long from back of heel to tip of toe; foot length is adjustable. Socks shown measure 7″ (18 cm).
Yarn: Patons Kroy Socks (75% washable wool, 25% nylon; 166 yd [152 m]/1&frac34 oz [50 g]): #1106 green/brown variegated, 2 (2, 2, 2, 3, 3) balls.
Needles: U.S. size 1&frac12 (2.5 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: NOTIONS Markers (m); tapestry needle.
