Description

Build your jewelry making skills as you learn Guilloche enameling and cameo techniques. Create the cameo setting and then use riveting to set the enameled piece.

Required Materials:

  • 18 X 13 mm cameo
  • Approximately 49 mm fine silver bezel wire for the cameo setting
  • 1 x 1″ piece of 24 ga sterling silver for the cameo setting
  • 2 x ½” piece of 24 ga sterling silver for the bail
  • 2 x 2″ piece of 24 ga sterling silver sheet for the back plate
  • 2 x 2″ piece of 18ga fine silver for the guilloche enameling
  • Approximately ½” of fine silver tubing; we used 0.375 OD, 0.335 ID for the tube rivet
  • Light, transparent enamels, washed and dried
  • Counter enamel
  • Optional: decorative wire to surround the cameo and bezel

Tools:

  • GUILLOCHE: spirograph, duct tape, scribe
  • ENAMELING: glass brush, 80 mesh sifters, kiln set to 1550°F (843.3°C), trivets, firing racks, firing fork, 50:50 dilution of Klyr Fire in a spray bottle
  • FABRICATION: jeweler’s saw, saw blades, files, drills, torch, flux, solder, pickle
  • FINISHING: felt buffs, white diamond and green rouge
  • SAFETY: safety goggles should be worn during all steps
