After watching a marathon of Jane Austen classics, designer Robyn Chachula was inspired to create an updated version of the day shawl. In our busy world, cardigans fill the same role shawls did in Austen’s time: as a garment that you can grab quickly and throw on before running out the door. This cardigan, with its classic lines and feminine curves, is as appropriate for day as it is for evening.

Finished Size: 34 (38, 42, 45 ½, 49 ½)” bust circumference. Garment shown measures 34″ and is modeled with 0″ ease.
Yarn: Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca Silk (50% silk, 50% alpaca; 146 yd [133 m]/13?4 oz [50g]; ): #126 brick (A), 11 (12, 13, 15, 17) hanks; #110 ecru (B), 1 hank.
Yarn weight: #2 – Fine.
Gauge: 9 ch-3 sps =4 ½” and 17 rows = 4″ in st patt.
Hook: Size G/6 (4.25 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
