Description

An “exploded” gusset makes a traditional gansey totally modern. In the Eastbound Sweater, the designer has placed the underarm gussets very low on the body and increased their width substantially throughout the lower body. Doing so creates a wide upper body, which, combined with the drop shoulder sleeve shape, makes for a roomy and modern dolman silhouette. All the elements of traditional ganseys are here- they’ve just been reinterpreted!

Finished Size: 38 (41, 45, 48, 55)” waist circumference. Sweater shown measures 38″, modeled with 4½” of positive ease.
Yarn: The Fibre Company Organik (70% merino wool, 15% baby alpaca, 15% silk; 98 yd [90 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]): night sky, 10 (11, 13, 15, 18) skeins. Yarn distributed by Kelbourne Woolens.
Needles: Sizes 8 (5 mm) and 9 (5.5 mm): 16″, 24″ and 32″ circulars (cir).br>
Notions: Markers (m); stitch holders.
Gauge: 16 sts and 25 rows = 4″ in St st on larger needle.
