Description

Want a quick, easy and delicate pair of earrings? This project is for you! If you’ve never tried filigree work, then this is a quick way to see if you like it or not. If you’ve never set a cabochon in a bezel, this will also give you an introduction to setting without breaking the bank.

Skills: Soldering, bezel setting

Materials:

  • 2 earring posts with pads
  • 2 earring backs to fit
  • 2 premade 3mm bezel cups
  • 2 3mm cabochons
  • 12-14″ filigree wire
  • Assorted sandpaper
  • Easy sheet solder

Tools:

General: Graph paper, pencil, ruler, round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, small round nose pliers, flush cut pliers, burnisher, torch, soldering blocks, flat needle file or one a little larger will work, flux and brush, copper tongs, pickle and pot, quench water (with baking soda), scissors, striker, T-pins or other object to make holes for the posts in the soldering block, rotary tool, steel brush for rotary tool.

Equipment: Rotary tool

Optional: Parallel pliers, felt buffs, rouge and white diamond polish
