Description

Made with fine gauge wool yarn, the Counterpoise Cardigan is soft, warm and works up with ease, especially for intermediate knitters. The back is worked in two pieces from the center out, beginning with a provisional cast-on. The fronts are worked separately and seamed at the shoulder and underarm. Stitches are picked up to create the garter-stitch neckband and sleeve cuffs.

Finished size: 21 (23 1/4, 25 3/4, 28, 30 1/4, 32 1/2)” back width at lower edge. Cardigan shown measures 231/4″ on model with 35″ bust.

Specific yarn used: Sugar Bush Yarns Bliss (70% extrafine superwash Merino wool, 20% mulberry silk, 10% cashmere; 105 yd [96 m]/1 3/4 oz [50 g]): #4010 Autumn Leaves, 14 (16, 17, 18, 19, 20) balls.

Needles: Size 3 (3.25 mm): 32″ circular (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Marker (m); removable m; waste yarn for provisional CO; tapestry needle.

Gauge: 23 sts and 35 rows = 4″ in Waffle st.
