Using super-bulky yarn and a large needle makes the Chunky Bandana Cowl a quick knit, even for beginners. Wear it with the top standing up or rolled down. The simple, classic shaping can be blinged up by adding fringe around the edges.

Finished Size: 26″ (66 cm) circumference, 6″ (15 cm) tall at back seam, 18″ (45.5 cm) tall at center front; one size fits most adults and teens.
Specific Yarn Used:Lion Brand Yarns Wool-Ease Thick & Quick (80% acrylic, 20% wool; 106 yd [97 m]/6 oz [170 g]): #640-105 Glacier, 2 skeins.
Needles: Size U.S. 17 (12.75 mm): 32″ (80 cm) circular knitting needle. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Yarn needle.
Gauge: 7 stitches and 16 rows = 4″ (10 cm) in garter stitch.
Notes:

  • This cowl is worked back and forth and seamed up the back. Use a circular needle without joining to distribute the weight of the cowl better.
  • Mark the right side for easy reference.
