Description

Build your jewelry making skills with soldering, fabrication, and stone setting. Layer uniquely colored gemstones in unique ways with multiple metals to create a beautifully designed pendant.

Required Materials:

  • 22 gauge sterling sheet; about 2″x3″
  • 22 gauge copper sheet; about 1.5″x1″
  • 24 gauge 14K gold sheet; about 1″x.5″
  • No.7 sterling triangular wire; about 2.5″
  • 12 gauge sterling square wire; about 1.75″
  • 12 gauge sterling round wire; about 2.5″
  • 14 gauge sterling round wire; about 1.5″
  • 16 gauge sterling round wire; about 1″
  • 20g 14K gold round wire; about 1.25″
  • ¼ ” x 26 gauge fine sterling sheet for taller bezel; about 5.5″
  • 3/16″ x 26 gauge sterling bezel wire; about 1.5″
  • 1/8″ x 26 gauge sterling bezel wire; about 1″
  • Solders: Hard sterling sheet and easy wire
  • Stones: Chrysocolla free-form cabochon about 1.5″x.5″, drusy quartz over hematite freeform about .5″x.5″, 6mm round
    faceted apatite, 4mm round faceted apatite, 10x8mm apatite cabochon

Tools:

  • LAYOUT: pencil, paper, Sharpie, tracing paper, school glue, ruler
  • SOLDERING: acetylene tank/torch, fire brick, paste flux, pickle acid, quench pot, pickling pot
  • HAND: rawhide mallet, metal hammers, anvil or bench pin, chasing tools, poker, flex shaft or Dremel, assorted burs, Cratex wheels, metal snips, assorted files, pliers, tweezers, bezel burnishers, jeweler’s saw with 4/0 blades
  • FINISHING: wet/dry sandpaper sheets from 320, 400, 600 and 1500 grits, buffing wheels, Tripoli and Zam polishing compounds, dish soap, soft toothbrush, hard epoxy, clear enamel, small paint brush, acetone, Q-tips
