Description

Create this stunning metal bracelet using soldering, bending, forming and straightening wire for a unique effect.

Materials Needed to Complete This Project:

  • 2” of heavy 3.9mm sterling silver rolo chain
  • 20” 3.6mm sterling silver reverse double-rope chain
  • 7” of 12g round sterling silver wire
  • 4” of 20g round sterling silver wire
  • 24 20g jump rings with a 3mm inside diameter
  • Bracelet clasp and catch
  • Hard paste solder in syringe
  • 3 feet of hard solder – wire form
  • Tools Needed to Complete This Project:

    Design: Graph Paper, Pencil

    Hand: Pliers, cutters, bench pin, jeweler’s saw and 0/4 blades, non-marring yellow plastic-head mallet, nylon kitchen cutting board, permanent marker, Wubbers 8x4mm parallel rectangle mandrel pliers, flexible shaft and hand piece or cordless Dremel tool, Moore’s medium sanding disks and mandrel

    Soldering: Respirator or soldering ventilation system, magnification, 12”x12” soft Solderite soldering board cut in half, fine tweezers, several pairs of heat-resistant titanium cross-lock soldering tweezers, small T pins, air/acetylene Smith Silversmith torch with #0 tip and tank of fuel, Prips flux in spray bottle, sharp solder pick, deep pitcher of water for quenching, pickle pot, steel straight edge and small screwdriver.

    Forming: Ring mandrel, bracelet mandrel, 12mm round steel mandrel

    Finishing: Shot-filled tumbler setup, bench polisher, buffs and Fabulustre polishing compound, hot, soapy water and toothbrush
