Exquisite cardigan in rustic tweedy silk.

Description

Michele Rose Orne based her design for an easygoing cardigan on the qualities of the yarn she used. The rustic tweedy silk yarn suggested a casual, swingy silhouette and an unfussy stitch with strong definition. She experimented with several lace and mesh patterns before deciding on the right combination of stitches to incorporate in the round yoke and extended cuff.

Finished Size: 35 (38, 46 ½, 49 ½)” bust circumference. Jacket shown measures 38″.
Yarn: Muench Yarns Sir Galli (100% silk; 104 yd [95 m]/50 g): #4902 tan tweed, 7 (8, 10, 11) balls.
Yarn weight: #4 – Medium
Gauge: 16 ½ sts and 26 rows = 4″ in St st using smaller straight needles; 17 sts and 26 rows = 4″ in lace patt from charts using cir needle in smallest size for yoke.
Needles: Body and sleeves—Sizes 8 (5 mm) and 7 (4.5 mm): straight. Yoke—Size 6 (4 mm): 24″ or 32″ circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
