The simplest lacework takes on spectacular glamour when strung with glimmering beads.

Description

The designer combined sophisticated steel-gray linen yarn, the simplest of openwork patterns, and multicolored glass beads to create this versatile, artisanal shawl. Though the effect is stunning, the actual knitting and beading are straightforward-simple, really.

Finished Size: About 22″ (56 cm) wide and 70″ (178 cm) long, blocked.
Yarn: Euroflax Linen 14/4 (100% Belgian linen; 270 yd [247 m]/100 g): #49 charcoal, 4 skeins.
Yarn weight: #2 – Fine
Gauge: 21 sts and 33 rows = 4″ (10 cm) in St st.
Needles: Size 3 (3 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Approximately 10,500 multicolored Czech glass seed beads (matte, transparent, and/or foil-lined), size 6 or larger (generous estimate); wire beading needle for stringing beads; markers (m); tapestry needle.
