Description

The Baryon Shrug is a great project for intermediate knitters wanting to work on a fun pattern while building your skills. The front of the shrug is worked from the bottom up while the back and sleeves are worked from side to side in one long rectangle. The back-neck panel is worked by picking up stitches along the top edge of the back/sleeve panel and shaping is worked to match shoulder shaping in the front.

Finished size: 31 1/2 (34 1/2, 38 1/2, 41 1/2, 45 1/2)” circumference at underarm. Shrug shown measures 31 1/2″ on model with 35″ bust.

Specific yarn used: Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts Lascaux Worsted (75% Punta Arenas wool, 25% Manx Loaghtan wool; 220 yd [201 m]/31/2 oz [100 g]): Scent and Sensibility, 5 (6, 7, 7, 9) skeins.

Needles: Sizes 6 (4 mm) and 7 (4.5 mm): 16″ and 24″ circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary, to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Marker (m); removable m; stitch holder; tapestry needle.

Gauge: 23 sts and 29 rows = 4″ in K3, P1 Rib on larger needle.
