Knitting in Fair Isle involves working two or more colors on one row of a pattern. It isn’t much more complicated than knitting or purling in one color, but it can produce some really stellar fabrics.

Finished Size: 28 (31 ¼, 34 ¾, 38, 41 ¼, 44 ¾)” (71 [79.5, 88.5, 96.5, 105, 113.5] cm). Bandeau shown measures 31 ¼” (79.5 cm).
Yarn: Classic Elite Renaissance (100% wool; 110 yd [100 m]/50 g): #7158 red (MC), 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6) skeins; #7185 Portifino orange, #7181 green grape, and #7168 Vatican gold, 1 skein each.
Yarn weight: #4 – Medium
Gauge: 24 sts and 26 rnds = 4″ (10 cm) in St st color pattern on larger needles.
Needles: Sizes 5 and 7 (3.75 and 4.5 mm): 24″ (60 cm) circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Marker (m); tapestry needle.
