After using cold wax as a topcoat for her collages to protect some of the more fragile papers from fading, Crystal Neubauer quickly discovered the advantages of using the wax itself to create texture in her artwork. Cold wax, a mixture of beeswax, resin, and solvent, looks like a thick paste, and you’ll see it can add plenty of surface texture. In this Art Lesson, Crystal demonstrate a variety of ways to use cold wax to add depth and detail to a work of art, with and without collage elements.
