Description

This designer is inspired by garments that recall classic Fair Isle sweaters in a way that retains the conventions and techniques of crochet while looking and feeling like knitting. Taking the traditional technique of tapestry crochet, she has created a hat with color work to mimic the Fair Isle look. Worked into the back loop of each single crochet and worked in rounds, the hat has an interesting texture, while not feeling as dense as conventional tapestry crochet.

Finished Size: 21″ circumference at brim.
Yarn: Goddess Yarns Emmanuela (100% merino wool; 90 yd [82 m]/1 ¾ oz [50 g]; CYCA #4 medium): #1350 toffee (A), 2 skeins; #1374 chocolate (B) and #2230 deep spice (C), 1 skein each.
Yarn weight: #4 – Medium
Gauge: 16 sts and 15 rnds = 4″ in patt.
Needles: Hooks: Size H/8 (5 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Tapestry needle.
