Inspired by vintage toys that require a healthy dose of imagination, clever shaping and embellishment turn an oversized top-down sock into A Horse, Of Course. Small bands of stranded colorwork add cheerful notes.
Finished Size: 15½ ” long and 12″ circumference when stuffed.
Yarn: Berroco Peruvia (100% Peruvian Highland wool; 174 yd [160 m]/3½ oz [100 g]): #7104 oats, #7194 profunda, #7195 baya, #7122 avocado, #7192 sol, #7110 naranja, and #7191 pimienta, 1 skein of each color.
Yarn Weight: #3 – Light
Needles: Size 10 (6 mm): set of 4 double-pointed (dpn). Size 7 (4.5 mm): 2 dpn. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Markers (m); tapestry needle; size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook; polyester fiberfill; broom handle or dowel rod.
Gauge: 16 sts and 19 rnds = 4″ in St st. Gauge is not that crucial for this project.
