A high-waisted, elegantly shaped skirt is worked in a simple stitch with a loose gauge.

Description

Inspired by the look of the simple stitch pattern, designer Kathy Merrick decided to shape it into a high-waisted skirt by working around lines of raised stitches. The looser gauge, lighter yarn effect of the faux slip at the hem is exactly the feminine finish needed.

Finished Size: 23 (26, 29, 32, 35, 38)” waist circumference. Choose size that is 0-3″ larger than circumference at natural waist. Length: 24 ½ (24 ½, 24 ½, 24 ½, 25 ½, 25 ½)”. Garment shown has 23″ waist circumference.
Yarns: Ornaghi Filati Elba (100% cotton; 110 yd [100 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]; ): #984 rosy peach (MC), 10 (12, 14, 16, 18, 20) skeins. Ornaghi Filati Echo (100% mercerized cotton 475 yd [435 m]/ 5¼ oz [150 g]; ): #937 ecru (CC), 1 skein. Yarns distributed by Aurora Yarns.
Yarn weight: #3 – Light and #2 – Fine.
Gauge: 16 sts and 12 rows = 4″ in main body patt using MC and smaller hook. 15 dc and 8 rows = 4″ using CC and smaller hook.
