Everything went well until working in the round stopped. I’m no super experienced knitter. That being said, how do you go over a chart designed to be worked on the round when you have to change to working back and forth??? Shouldn’t there be another chart for the back and forth part? Trying to go the opposite of what the chart says is a headache, literally. I love this top and I’m knitting it for my daughter but … I wish I have someone’s expertise opinion.

It can be hard to switch like that, but many sweaters are worked this way. Whether I have to switch from working in the round or not, when I need to work lace back & forth I mark up the chart. I use a pink highlighter to mark the wrong-side rows. After a while, I have trained myself to recognize that a dot with a pink background is a knit stitch, a plain pink background is a purl stitch, a pink \ is a k2tog & a pink / is a ssk. The yo & s1k2p are worked the same on both sides.

For really complicated lace patterns, I have even marked up individual stitches in different colors. So, as knitted, all ssk would be blue & all k2tog would be green, no matter which side they’re on.

Hope this helps. Make sure you show us a photo when you’re finished!

Thank you so much!! You gave me the knowledge and push to continue, hopefully, with success. I understand. This is my first ‘big’ lace project on the round and changing to back and forth.

    I highly appreciate your response.
