Listen and Learn About Creating a Successful Jewelry Business

Join us to talk with Tracy about her path to success and how you can grow your jewelry business (or any creative or craft business) following her lead. Then read on to learn more, including her three-part alternative to creating a business plan.

Pivot to Succeed

Pivot has become a big word these days, but Tracy was ahead of the curve. She’s transitioned from creating her own jewelry lines for major retailers to designing high-end bespoke jewelry and teaching other jewelers how to grow their businesses through her podcast, coaching, educational courses, and more.

Tracy developed the Desired Brand Effect in order to overcome bankruptcy, prevent burnout, and relaunch her highly profitable jewelry brand. The main tenets are creating desire, sharing desire, and scaling desire. Tracy has used this strategy to propel her own business—and her jewelry designer clients’ businesses—to success.

Change Your Mindset

In The Desired Brand Effect, Tracy offers strategies for branding, positioning, marketing, sales, and systems that demystify the business side of running a creative products brand. She emphasizes the necessity of stepping out of the Maker Mindset and into the role of Visionary Leadership, where “you work in your business still, as you start to work on your business.”

Tracy knows that many makers are reluctant to stop making their art. However, she has worked with many artists whose craft or jewelry businesses have blossomed after they shifted their mindsets. She says, “Being the Chief Visionary Officer of your business is freeing because you have the space to focus on the creative aspects of it instead of being stuck in the day to day.”

Make A Jewelry Business Plan and Go For It

Many artists get stuck when trying to create a conventional business plan. Tracy offers a three-part alternative:

1. Create a three-year vision that outlines a business that supports your life.
2. Make a single page of your Strategic, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-based goals and objectives.
3. Take time to write a 90-day strategic plan with action steps to reach your jewelry business goals.

Tracy shares, “If you want to have a business, not just an expensive hobby, you need to work on your mindset daily and promote yourself to Chief Visionary Officer. A CVO understands that business is a journey of personal and professional growth. It’s also an evolutionary process of your mindset and creative gifts, and when you combine that with profits and great business leadership, you are force to be reckoned with.”

The Desired Brand Effect has been years in the making and is based on Tracy’s experience building her own businesses as well as consulting with thousands of jewelry makers.

Embrace Your Creativity

Tracy suggests that using creativity as the leader in your jewelry business makes it more enjoyable as well as more successful. She says, “Entrepreneurship is not an easy road, yet it’s the most fulfilling road when you’re in your creative flow.” Tracy offers ideas for creating structure and processes so you can be free to make more money making your art.
