Narragansett Gansey by Kathy Zimmerman

Imagine climbing aboard a sailboat, unfurling the white sails, and heading out for a cool day on the bay in the Narragansett Gansey. This beautiful gansey was made for the sea as well as the shore. It uses traditional Aran wool that was made with vigorous wear in mind—the 100 percent British wool can be washed in a standard washing machine.

Point Judith Pullover by Josie Mercier

A study in cables, the Point Judith Pullover features several rugged cable motifs and a Henley neckline that combine to create a pullover any man (or woman) would love to have in their closet. This sweater is made in pieces and seamed for stability—you wouldn’t want all that gorgeous stitchwork to stretch out!

Bristol Raglan by Kephren Pritchett

A nod to the classic French Breton top, which has become synonymous with nautical designs, the Bristol Raglan keeps things interesting with cables that twist down the raglan seams. Worked in the round from the top down in one piece, this sweater ends with a modern asymmetrical hem.

Cowesett Tee by Cassie Castillo

The Cowesett Tee is a warm-weather take on American Indian–inspired textiles. The tee is worked in the round from the bottom up, and the armholes and neck are steeked. Choose a wool-based yarn to help keep those strands stuck together after the cut!

Kingstown Socks by Lisa Jacobs

The Kingstown Socks are inspired by the motifs and colors of the Pacific Northwest. Worked from the top down with an afterthought heel, these four-color socks make for an on-trend colorwork project.

Portsmouth Beanie by Jesie Ostermiller

Perfect for chilly days that hint at the warm season to come, the unisex Portsmouth Beanie has a clever textural wave pattern that rises and falls over the twisted ribbing. Made in one piece from the bottom up, this hat needs a worsted-spun yarn to make the stitch motif pop off the fabric.

Charlestown Pullover by Cheryl Chow

An Aran and gansey mash-up, the Charlestown Pullover unites cables and texture for a classic pullover that’s perfect for days on the ocean or casual weekends. Made from the top down in one piece, the saddle shoulders are worked first, then the yoke is worked in the round.

Newport Pullover by Kate Gagnon Osborn

Wear the Newport Pullover down a well-worn path of sand that snakes through tall beach grass to the sea. This gently cabled top, made from the bottom up in one easy, seamless piece, mimics the undulating waves of the ocean.

Notes This wrap is worked back and forth in rows from the point up. After the point is worked, the stitches are divided for the two wings. The sample used almost all of five balls of yarn. Consider purchasing an extra ball as insurance.
