Sometimes just a simple pattern looks complicated. I just used a very simple twill threading for these towels (1-2-3-4) and just made each one different by using different treadlings and colors. I used the Handweaver's Pattern Book and just picked out 6 twill treadlings to try. They made a really neat coordinating set of red, white, and blue towels for use in the kitchen or bathroom. I think it was nice to be reminded that simple patterns are great too, and that not everything needs to be complicated and fancy. In fact, sometimes you lose the pattern or effect because it's too complicated and fancy and we try too hard to impress our guests.
