Tropical Themes Spring Scarf

I was inspired by the colors of tropical lowland Bolivia, where I live, and patterns and techniques that I studied in Guatemala. I used a backstrap loom set-up which is probably more common in SE Asia…a circular warp with a coil rod (although I have seen this used by ikat shawl weavers in Ecuador too). I learned a lot about the use of the nifty coil rod which I have written about on my blog.

The scarf is made from cotton bought in Guatemalan street markets with supplementary-weft patterns in multiple strands of 60/2 silk.
