Scarf in blockdamask on 32 shafts
This scarf in block damask is woven on a loom with 32 shafts [LOUËT Megado]. It is one of a series of three scarves [the title of the series is "Niki" named after a resort designed by the Japanese architect Akira Watanabe] all woven on the same warp. The variety in each scarf of the series was made by the change of colors in the weft. The yarn I used was Venne-Colcoton Unikat, mercerised cotton Nm 34/2. I always make series. It all starts with something I'm inspired by, that can be nature, architecture… then I make photos or sketches. After that I translate these sketches into a design on the computer, before I start weaving.
