From Fire Comes Beauty

2012 was one of the worst years on record for wildfires, especially in the state of Colorado where smoke and fire filled much of the state from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins and beyond. The fires caused much sadness, but out of that sadness the Pikes Peak Weavers Guild has created an exhibit filled with beauty.

Woven Together: Firestorm is a juried exhibit commemorating the 2012 fire season. It features gorgeous works of fiber art by 42 artists from around the U.S., the U.K., and Australia, including invited artist Maryse Levenson who lost her home and much of her art in the Waldo Canyon fire. The exhibit was juried by Jeanne Steinner and the works on display are testimonies to the artists' abilities to turn a terrible experience into expressions of beauty.

The exhibit will be on display at the Hagnauer Gallery, at the Business Art Center in Manitou Springs, Colorado, until August 3. More information on the exhibit can be found at the Pikes Peak Weavers Guild website.
