Western Reserve Spinners and Weavers Guild
Lake Metroparks Farmpark (Ohio) has a mission to help urban society understand how farmers raise food, fiber, and other products to sustain and enhance our lives. The Western Reserve Spinners & Weavers Guild complements this goal by teaching and promoting the arts of spinning, weaving, and dyeing. Volunteers work at Lake Metroparks events including the Fiberarts Festival held each year, and the group holds their meetings every month in the Farmpark. Members also participate in the Hale Farm & Village living history museum in Bath, Ohio. A “Hands-On-History” program provides the opportunity for school-age children to card wool, thigh-spin, and weave. More than 3,000 kids are able to try out the pioneer lifestyle as a result.
