Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild (Arizona)
Members of the Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild (Arizona) are learning about North Ronaldsay Island sheep in their Spinning Study Group. One member visited a flock of the sheep on North Ronaldsay Island off the coast of Scotland and had a fleece shipped back to the States. The sheep is designated a rare primitive breed, and part of their study involves looking at the protein content of the fiber. This summer the group joined the Porrey Cross Weaver’s Study Group to take a field trip to the retail yarn company Cotton Clouds.
