The Ohio Valley Fiber Arts Guild
The Ohio Valley Fiber Arts Guild (Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky) held a three-day retreat in New Harmony, Indiana, at George MacLeod Barn Abbey near the Wabash River. Participants were divided into small groups, each responsible for a meal and cleanup so no one person was stuck in the kitchen. Show-and-tell marked the first night to reacquaint old friends and make new ones, share current projects, and show off completed ones. The second night featured a sing-along after a walking tour of the historic settlement, once a religious community. Sock machines, a variety of spinning wheels including an electric spinner, and a triangle loom were brought in by members as part of the informal learning opportunities offered.
