The fiber world is buzzing about Spinzilla—a fun spinning competition that will be held October 5‒11, 2015. (You can learn more in the Spinzilla FAQ.) Spinzilla allows us to either spin on our own (Rogue Spinners) or band together into competing teams. Either way, registration ends October 2nd, so now is the time to join.

Twenty-five teams have a full roster of spinners, but plenty of others still have openings. Visit the website to see a list of teams that would love to have you! Here are two friendly teams who need your yards:

Team Medina Spinning and Weaving Guild

This friendly group from Ohio formed the only guild team competing in Spinzilla this year. Way to go! Spinner Nancy Page says, "Members of our guild heard about Spinzilla last year and thought it would be fun to participate. We will be spinning on our own and in groups, and we are talking about doing an event but have not got our threads in order yet. As a guild we love to spin, demonstrate the craft, and talk about the history of spinning. Personally, I love to create my own yarn. I find the rhythm of the wheel soothing. When I take my spindle to doctor appointments, I drop my blood pressure by several points!"

Team Espace Tricot

Based in Canada, these excited spinners need just a few more team members for a full roster. Team Captain Samantha (Ravelry: ScrumptiousPurl) has been helping the group to get acquainted on Ravelry. French and English speakers are welcome. Here's a bit about the team host, Espace Tricot, a yarn and fiber shop in Montréal:

"As much a gathering place as a retail space, Espace Tricot’s inspiring atmosphere caters to fiber lovers of all ages and skill levels, attracting a loyal clientele. The store stocks a large and carefully curated selection of yarns and fibers, notions, accessories, books and patterns. Espace Tricot also offers many classes and workshops where new knitters, crocheters, and spinners can get started and more advanced customers can hone their skills. Espace Tricot is conveniently located in the heart of Notre-Dame-de-Grace in Montreal and is easily accessible by public transportation. "
