Spinning Wheel historians Val and David Bryant visit The Abergele Guild of Weavers, Spinners, and Dyers (Wales)
At the April meeting of The Abergele Guild of Weavers, Spinners, and Dyers (Wales), Val and David Bryant gave a presentation on the history of spinning wheels. David builds spinning wheels, sells plans for building your own wheel, and also restores antique wheels. Together, the Bryants have researched and collected specifications on over eight hundred spinning wheels to build a unique database of spinning history in the United Kingdom. A member of the guild brought her antique wheel to the meeting to be added to the Bryants' database. As David mentions on the Craft Designs website, they are always looking for more wheels to record.
Val and David have worked with the Jane Austen House and were interviewed on BBC 4 Radio recently about their role in restoring Jane Austen's spinning wheel. (Amy Clarke Moore writes about it here.) The Abergele Guild also tells us that the Bryants have worked with the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Royal Collection.
