Weavers, spinners, and felters will soon head to Providence, Rhode Island, for the Handweavers Guild of America's biannual Convergence conference. The gathering lasts from July 14‒19 and includes a full schedule of workshops. Convergence typically includes a wide variety of weaving workshops and seminars, in addition to spinning and felting workshops with well-respected mentors. This year, participants are invited to take a Spincation with Robin Russo and Betty Burian Kirk. Spaces are still available in several workshops—see the website for details.
A highlight of the Convergence gatherings is always the gallery exhibits. This year, open shows and juried exhibits will feature a wide variety of fiber art mediums. Additionally, you can see breathtaking wearable art at the ever-popular runway fashion show on July 16. This year's theme is All That Jazz. One simply must stop to muse, "What would Zelda Fitzgerald weave?"
