Marshall Pleasant Spinners (Wisconsin)
A sheep to shawl event was held at this year's Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival through the efforts of the Marshall Pleasant Spinners. This guild began in 1979 with a small group of spinners that over the past thirty years have taught and demonstrated at area fiber events and historical days. Members have developed expertise in spinning, weaving, nålbinding, bobbin lace, and dyeing. Some have become collectors of textile equipment often used in their demonstrations. On this occasion, handcarding, combing, spinning, and knitting to turn fleece into a garment were included along with dyeing, with a welcome to anyone interested in the fiber arts to join them.
