Loraine County Spinners and Weavers (Ohio)
Where does your spinning wheel live? Ed Rowe, a member of the Loraine County Spinners and Weavers (Ohio) asked this question at a recent meeting and tabulated the results of twenty-four spinners. The most common place during colonial times was the kitchen. For today’s spinners, the living room was the prime location followed by the family room, bedroom, weaving studio, or hallway. Other locations were the kitchen, basement, den, dining room, sunroom, and shop display. Ed noted that the average number of wheels per spinner in their group is 2.1.
