Looking for Fiber Festivals?
It’s that time of the year: flowers are blooming, lambs are bouncing, and fiber artists of all stripes are headed to their favorite fiber festivals. I’m able to visit quite a few fiber events throughout the year, but I enjoy hearing about the ones that I miss on social media. Facebook, Instagram, and Ravelry are great ways to keep up with new products, workshops, and where to look for your next fleece.
Do you have any festivals or fiber events on your calendar this spring and summer? Here are just a few of the many yarn-centric gatherings that will be happening this month:
Shepherd’s Harvest Sheep and Wool Festival is happening this weekend in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. (May 13‒15, 2016.) Featuring Minnesota’s largest fleece competition, sheep shearing and fleece skirting demonstrations, vendors, workshops, and more. The Midwest Lama Association is sponsoring a new event at the festival this year: Lamapalooza!
Highland Wool and Textiles at Dingwall in Scotland, May 21.
Woolfest Auckland in New Zealand, May 28.
Great Lakes Fiber Show in Wooster, Ohio, May 28‒29.
Massachusetts Sheep and Woolcraft Fair in Cummington, Massachusetts May 28‒29.
Fiber Train Wool Festival in Kuna, Idaho, May 28‒29.
