Gage Evans (Colorado) makes the most of dog fiber.
One of the rewards for spinning dog hair is meeting the owners of the dogs and often the donors themselves, according to Gage Evans, a member of the The Rocky Mountain Weavers Guild (Colorado). She says, "There is a bond between spinner and customer like no other type of spinning." Her advice to those who think that spinning dog hair is smelly and messy and that the resulting yarn is disappointing is "perhaps you are not trying the right dog." Her newsletter samples included a pure white Samoyed, a 100% husky which looks and feels like Angora bunny, and husky blended with wool for strength and elasticity.
