Fall brings fiber to Sapphire, North Carolina

Jan Smiley is the wonderfully prolific knitter, spinner, seamstress, and multimedia artist behind the Carolina Fiber Frolic. The fall retreat, which was held just a few weeks ago, is dedicated to relaxing with friends, sharing finished projects, and breathing mountain air in beautiful western North Carolina. A crowd of smiling spinners, knitters, and felters joined Jan in Sapphire for this year's event—such a happy way to end a busy year!
Jan added the fall event as an "all retreat" version of the more robust CFF held in the spring. The next CFF will be held March 20‒22, 2015, and adds great workshops and vendors into the mix, but still includes plenty of time to spin in front of cozy fireplaces or knit on the porch. Workshops in the past have ranged from handspinning to rigid-heddle weaving, support-spindle spinning, wet-felting, and more.
