The much anticipated documentary Addicted to Sheep will have its first cinema preview on February 19 in Durham, England. As we shared back in December, filmmaker Magali Pettier (Provenance Films) followed a family working as tenant farmers in the High Pennines of northern England, over an eighteen-month period. Coming from an agriculture background herself, Magali wanted to explore the reasons that families choose to farm today. A passion for beautiful sheep and wool is something that most handspinners, both rural and urban, can appreciate.

The film was supported in part by a successful crowd-funding campaign that helped to spread the word about the project, which now has a dedicated following. Next week's preview at the Gala Theatre in Durham will coincide with Chinese New Year celebrations to welcome the Year of the Sheep. The event is fully booked, so many of us near and far will continue to wait in happy anticipation for the film's release. In the meantime, check out the new film trailer. To be among the first to find out the release plans of Addicted to Sheep, subscribe to the newsletter on www.addictedtosheep.com.
